I was really excited to find this article. Im about to return to NC as a newly minted CS with big goals for more and its very encouraging to know where I can find other Somms to get guidance and mentoring. The Triangle is fairly easy for me to reach from Pinehurst so I'll be looking to network big time.

The major region on our end, both UNC and Duke, was the Rhone, plenty of Chateaneuf in particular. Only big California sales were Dunn, Mayacamas, and Heitz, and we did sell a good deal of Barolo and Barbaresco. But I was floored when a guest asked which producers of Juhfark we have from Somlo? (they were University of Montana Grads :)).

So far two nights into the Graduation weekend celebrations for Duke and UNC, and I have to say I've served plenty of Duke and UNC grads so far and not one bottle of Cakebread or Dujac has been sold or brought in otherwise. What's up with this generation?! We'll see what Mother's Day brings.

I just held my company meeting in Raleigh. Angus Barn....anyone seen that wine list? Pretty impressive. Steak is darn good too!

Great to hear about the wine/beer scene in the home state. Glad to know there is forward progress. Sommelier certainly wasn't a word my guidance councilor knew in the NC Mountains! (Duke!)

This makes me miss Carolina more than anything! Tar Heel Bred...!

Such a fun piece about the happenings down there... Its been a while since I've been back, but such an exciting time in the Triangle for food & wine. I've been thinking about heading/moving back South. This article might have just given me the nudge I needed!
